Salmon Finder 3 Is Here

After a long winter of tying flies, drinking coffee, and quietly rewriting half the app, we’re thrilled to land Salmon Finder 3 (iOS : Android). This release is our biggest yet — a top-to-bottom platform refresh, a stack of features anglers have been asking for, and a pile of fixes that make everyday use noticeably smoother. Whether you’re chasing kings on the Kenai or scouting silvers somewhere only you and a few seagulls know about, version 3 was built to make your time on the water count.

What’s New

Explore can show your location. Tap once and the map snaps to where you actually are, not where you parked last August. It sounds small. It is not small.

Notifications for count updates. Get pinged the moment new counts post for the rivers you care about, so you can stop refreshing the app at red lights.

Track favorite locations and species. Favorite the rivers you fish, favorite the fish you chase, and Salmon Finder will quietly keep track of both for you.

Full platform refresh for iOS 26 and Android Material 3 Expressive. The app now feels native on the latest from Apple and Google — bolder type, cleaner motion, and a layout that breathes.

Consolidated species counts. No more cross-referencing tabs to figure out the day’s totals. Counts are now grouped the way anglers actually think about them.

The version number is now “3”. Yes, this is technically a feature. We made it.

Bug Fixes

The Explore map no longer resets to the Kasilof Mosquito. It was a beautiful, persistent little bug. We will miss it. We hope you will not.

Graphs are cleaner and more reliably displayed. Less clutter, fewer “where did my line go” moments, and a layout that actually fits on your screen.

Dark mode has been cleaned up with much more contrast. Pre-dawn parking lot reads, late-night planning sessions — your eyes will notice.

No more shipping a release just to bump the year. Salmon Finder now keeps up with the calendar on its own, and our release notes can finally be about features again.

IAP flow is smoothed out. Upgrading is faster, clearer, and less likely to leave you wondering whether anything happened.

Android Explore screen data is meaningfully faster. Pan, zoom, scroll — it just keeps up now.

Probably some new stuff. We fixed a few things we forgot to write down. If something used to bug you and doesn’t anymore, you’re welcome.

Update Now

Salmon Finder 3 is rolling out today on the App Store and Google Play. Tight lines, and may the counts be ever in your favor.
